“I never lose, I either win or learn” – Nelson Mandela

Fact: Visionary leaders and business owners have three things in common … They have a vision. They have a purpose. They have goals.

But it doesn’t just stop there – they also take inspired action to achieve their goals.

And all three of these areas align to showcase the bigger picture so they can see it, their team knows and everyone is working towards the same vision and goal.

If you are ready to start shaping your future in business to become the true visionary leader you know you were born to be, a growth mindset is going to help you get there.

Visionary leaders must first check their mindset

A growth mindset, which I spoke about in detail in this blog, is about your belief in yourself and your situation and making changes that will positively affect the outcomes you want to see happen.

You have an “I can do it” attitude, you will find a way to make your vision a reality and you thrive on overcoming challenges.

And as Nelson Mandela says, you never lose, you win or learn, meaning every mistake you make is an opportunity to learn from – and that’s what makes a great visionary leader.

Next, practice being a visionary leader

You’ve got the passion and your purpose is very clear, so now you need to start practising being the visionary leader in your business, in your personal life as well.

This is what I’ve been practising in my personal and professional life and why it’s important:

  • Visionary leaders turn challenges into opportunities to learn – In my personal life this year, the challenges came from being in lockdown for 267 days – I can say there were many opportunities to learn in that time!
  • See failing as learning and enjoy the process – This is a tough one to master, which is why practice is key.
  • Put effort into new learning – Every day I want to learn something new, even if it is a piece of information.
  • Reflection – I have taken to daily reflection in my business and personal life to make sure I can stay ahead of the game and always be making my business and myself better.
  • Put emphasis on personal and professional growth – This goes without saying, just look at all the visionary people you admire.
  • Seek improvement – Where I don’t know something I learn it, if it’s not my forte, I outsource and delegate.

5 steps to create a successful online business as a visionary leader

1. Mindset

As we have established and many people will attest to this being true – your mindset makes you. To be a visionary leader means to have a growth mindset.

2. Overcoming challenges

It’s important to recognise and acknowledge your challenges and then overcome them. It can be overwhelming and sometimes negative self-talk and Imposter Syndrome will creep in (it sounds like this, “I’m not getting enough clients, I’m not good enough, I’ll never make this happen”), but it’s about being realistic and coming back to a growth mindset and your why when you’re faced with a challenge.

3. Seek professional help

When it comes to your mindset and overcoming challenges in your life and business, it’s important to get professional help if you can’t work this out on your own. Once you get these two areas sorted, then you can move into the next phase of your business and life. Visionary leaders are always looking at what their future looks like and how they can create it.

4. Revisit your business why and the impact you want to have

Making change doesn’t always happen straight away and it’s not always easy. If it was, everyone would do it. Revisit your business why and the impact you want to have, look at your big vision and then make the time to work on your vision for the business and your future. Get excited about it!

5. Realigning the business to that vision

This is the fun part and the part I can help you with! Your systems, processes and team. Before you can go to the next level in your business, whatever that looks like for you and your business, your business and goals must be aligned to your vision. There is no other way to achieve it. Everything in your business, including your systems, processes and team must work to your vision.
